Laser removal of veins and capillaries

Treatment overview

Visible capillaries and superficial veins can be a source of self-consciousness — whether on the face or body. Whilst they are generally harmless, many patients wish to have them removed so that the skin looks even and clear once more.

Laser removal of veins and capillaries offers a precise, medically controlled solution that acts directly on dilated blood vessels, without damaging the surrounding tissue.

At our laser centre we use technologies such as Candela Nordlys, which enables exceptionally precise targeting of blood vessels of varying sizes — with a high degree of safety and excellent aesthetic results.

Notably, laser energy acts selectively on haemoglobin within the blood vessels, enabling their closure without affecting the surrounding skin — it is precisely this selectivity that makes this method one of the most effective in contemporary dermatology.

How is the treatment performed?

The treatment is carried out using targeted laser or light energy that penetrates the skin and acts directly on the blood vessels.

During the treatment:

  • energy is absorbed by the blood vessels
  • they are gradually heated and closed
  • the body then naturally eliminates them over time

The procedure is swift, precise, and tailored to the type and depth of the changes being treated.

Who is the treatment for?

The treatment is ideal for individuals who:

  • have visible capillaries on the face or body
  • have superficial veins (e.g. on the legs)
  • notice redness or vascular changes on the skin
  • wish to achieve a more even and aesthetically clearer skin tone

It is suitable for various areas of the body, subject to individual assessment.

Our approach

When it comes to vascular lesions, precise diagnosis and the correct choice of therapy are paramount.

At our clinic, every treatment is planned by a specialist dermatologist who assesses the type, depth, and cause of the changes. On this basis, we select the optimal technology and approach.

We use advanced systems such as Candela Nordlys, but what truly makes the difference is the way in which we apply them — individually, thoughtfully, and with a clear objective in mind.

We dedicate time to our patients to explain the process, expectations, and outcomes — because it is precisely this that inspires confidence and trust.

Preparing for the treatment

Prior to the treatment, we recommend:

  • avoiding sun exposure for at least 2 weeks beforehand
  • refraining from using aggressive products on the area to be treated
  • arriving with clean skin

Anaesthetic cream is not usually required.

Recovery and precautions

Recovery is minimal, with a return to everyday activities possible immediately after the treatment.

Possible reactions:

  • mild redness
  • slight swelling
  • transient sensitivity

Recommendations:

  • use SPF protection
  • avoid heat and sun exposure for several days
  • follow the recommended aftercare advice

When are results visible?

Results are often visible after the very first treatment, whilst the optimal effect is achieved over the course of several sessions.

You can expect:

  • reduction or disappearance of capillaries
  • a more even skin tone
  • a clearer, healthier appearance

The result is gradual and natural-looking.

Treatment combinations

For an optimal and long-lasting result, the treatment is often combined with other technologies:

  • Candela Nordlys — for additional action on vascular and pigmented changes
  • CO2 Smaxel — for improving skin texture and regeneration
  • Morpheus8 — for strengthening skin structure and reducing reactivity
  • HIFU — for tightening the deeper layers of the skin
  • Icoone Laser Med — for stimulating microcirculation and regeneration

Additionally, where indicated:

  • medical treatments to strengthen blood vessels
  • lymphatic drainage
  • individually tailored skincare

Combinations are introduced with a specific purpose — to address not only the visible changes, but also the overall quality of the skin.

    FAQ

    Frequently asked questions

Here you’ll find answers to the questions our clients most often ask about our services and treatments.

+ What is the difference between capillaries and veins treated with laser?
Capillaries are tiny superficial blood vessels, whilst veins are deeper and larger structures. Laser is most commonly used for smaller veins and capillaries on the face and body.
+ How does the laser act on veins and capillaries?
The laser heats the blood within the vessel, causing it to close, after which it is naturally reabsorbed by the body.
    + When are results visible?
Results are often visible after the very first treatment, with further improvement achieved over the course of several sessions.
+ How many treatments are required?
This depends on the size and number of changes; however, several treatments are often needed to achieve the optimal result.
    + Is the treatment painful?
The sensation is mild and brief, with minimal discomfort.
+ Is there any recovery time?
Recovery is minimal — some mild redness or skin sensitivity is possible.
+ Why is it important to properly assess the veins before treatment?
Not all veins are suitable for laser treatment — a proper diagnosis ensures both safety and the best possible outcome.
