There are treatments that improve the surface of the skin — and treatments that act on its structure.
HIFU (High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound) belongs to the second category.
It is a technology that delivers precisely focused ultrasound energy into the deeper layers of the skin, including the SMAS layer (Superficial Musculoaponeurotic System) — the same anatomical level that surgical lifting procedures act on.
That is the key difference.
HIFU doesn’t act on the surface; it triggers thermal coagulation and neocollagenesis deep in the tissue, leading to gradual tightening, lifting and redefinition of the facial contours.
The result isn’t an instant change — it’s a gradual lift that looks natural and stays stable over the long term.
At our clinic HIFU isn’t a “quick treatment” — it’s carefully planned therapy that takes into account facial anatomy, the degree of laxity and the quality of the tissue.
Because a real lift isn’t just tightening — it’s understanding the structure of the face.
How is the treatment performed?
The HIFU device emits focused ultrasound energy at precisely defined depths (typically 1.5 mm, 3 mm and 4.5 mm), targeting:
- the dermis
- the subcutaneous tissue
- the SMAS layer
In the treated zones the following take place:
- controlled tissue heating
- contraction of collagen fibres
- fibroblast stimulation
- neocollagenesis
The procedure is performed without damaging the surface of the skin, enabling a lifting effect without an invasive procedure.
For optimal results, HIFU is often combined with:
- Morpheus8 for additional firming and dermal remodelling
- the CO2 Smaxel laser for surface regeneration and texture
- Candela Nordlys for pigmentation and skin tone quality
- Icoone Laser Med for microcirculation and lymphatic drainage
- SkinPen microneedling for surface renewal
- PRP and Angel PRP (Arthrex) for regeneration
- exosomes and polynucleotides for biostimulation
Who is the treatment for?
HIFU is ideal for patients who notice:
- laxity of the skin on the face and neck
- loss of jawline definition
- cheek descent
- mild to moderate skin laxity
- a tired, “heavy” look to the face
Particularly suited to those who want:
- a lift without surgery
- a natural result without volumisation
- improved facial contours
It’s important to note — HIFU delivers the best results for mild to moderate changes, while pronounced excess skin may need to be combined with other methods.
When are results visible?
A small effect can be visible immediately due to collagen contraction.
However, the real result develops gradually over:
- 4 to 12 weeks
- the neocollagenesis process
The skin becomes:
- firmer
- more lifted
- more defined
Recovery and precautions
One of HIFU’s advantages is minimal recovery time.
The following are possible:
- mild sensitivity
- a tight feeling
- rarely, mild swelling
Patients usually return to everyday activities straight away.
We recommend:
- avoiding heat (sauna, exercise) for a short period
- SPF protection
- gentle skincare
Preparing for the treatment
In most cases no special preparation is needed.
An anaesthetic cream can be applied where needed, although most patients tolerate the treatment well.
Recommendations:
- arrive without active inflammation on the skin
- avoid alcohol before the treatment
- consult with your doctor before the procedure
Our approach
At our clinic HIFU is delivered by experienced dermatology specialists, with precise assessment and individual planning.
We don’t use generic protocols.
Every treatment is built on:
- analysis of facial structure
- assessment of the appropriate depth of action
- combination with other therapies where needed
We give patients what makes the difference in aesthetic medicine:
safety, knowledge and time devoted specifically to them.
