CANDELA NORDLYS® – advanced laser platform for an even, healthy and rejuvenated skin appearance

Poliklinika dr. Jelena Jakić was the first clinic in Zagreb to recognise the potential of this technology and is regarded as a regional and international authority on this laser platform. Dr Jakić is a regular speaker and panellist at Candela academies around the world.

In contemporary aesthetic dermatology, owning a single laser is no longer enough — the key lies in a platform that allows precise targeting of a wide range of skin concerns.

Candela Nordlys® is precisely such a system — one of the most advanced laser platforms in the world, developed to treat:

  • pigmentation
  • vascular lesions
  • skin texture
  • signs of ageing

Notably, Nordlys uses selective photothermolysis, a principle by which laser energy is precisely directed at specific structures within the skin (melanin, haemoglobin), without damaging the surrounding tissue.

The result is:

  • an even complexion
  • reduction of redness and pigmentation
  • improved skin quality
  • a natural, healthy appearance

How is the treatment performed?

Candela Nordlys® brings together several different technologies within a single platform (IPL, Frax, vascular laser), which are selected according to the indication.

The treatment includes:

1. Skin preparation

  • cleansing of the skin
  • application of gel (for IPL)

2. Application of laser energy

  • selective action on pigment, blood vessels or texture
  • controlled heating of the targeted structures

3. Finishing care

  • soothing preparations
  • SPF protection

The treatment addresses:

→ pigmentation
→ redness and capillaries
→ skin texture
→ signs of ageing

What sets Candela Nordlys apart from other lasers?

Candela Nordlys is not “a single laser” — it is a multifunctional platform.

Compared with CO2 Smaxel:

  • Nordlys → non-ablative (no damage to the surface of the skin)
  • CO2 → ablative (intensive regeneration, but with downtime)

👉 Nordlys is ideal for a gentler yet effective approach with no downtime

Compared with Morpheus8:

  • Nordlys → acts on pigment and vascular lesions
  • Morpheus8 → acts on deep tightening and remodelling

👉 Nordlys = complexion and quality
👉 Morpheus8 = structure and lifting

Compared with HIFU:

  • Nordlys → superficial and mid-layers of the skin
  • HIFU → deep lifting (SMAS layer)

👉 Nordlys improves the appearance of the skin
👉 HIFU lifts the structure of the face

Compared with conventional IPL:

  • Nordlys uses advanced IPL with more precise energy control
  • a safer and more effective treatment

Who is the treatment for?

Candela Nordlys is ideally suited to:

  • pigmentation and melasma
  • redness and capillaries
  • uneven complexion
  • early signs of ageing
  • dull, lacklustre skin

It is particularly suited to those who wish to achieve:

  • visible results without downtime
  • improved skin quality
  • a natural appearance

Treatment combinations (the key to outstanding results)

At our clinic, Nordlys is almost never performed as a standalone treatment — but rather as part of combined protocols.

🔹 combinations with other lasers:

  • Nordlys (IPL) + Frax → complexion + texture
  • Nordlys + CO2 Smaxel → surface + deep regeneration
  • Nordlys + HIFU → skin quality + lifting

🔹 combinations with other treatments:

  • PRP / Angel PRP (Arthrex) → regeneration
  • exosomes → cellular renewal
  • SkinPen microneedling → collagen
  • polynucleotides → dermal regeneration
  • HydraFacial™ → skin priming and maintenance

👉 this is what sets us apart — a combination of technologies, not a single treatment

    FAQ

    Frequently asked questions

Here you’ll find answers to the questions our clients most often ask about our services and treatments.

+ What is Candela Nordlys and how does it differ from other lasers?
Candela Nordlys is an advanced platform that combines several technologies (IPL and fractional wavelengths), allowing a wide range of skin concerns to be treated within a single system. It is precisely this versatility that makes it possible to tailor each treatment with exceptional precision to the individual.
+ Which concerns can this laser address?
Pigmentation, redness, capillaries, uneven complexion, signs of photoageing and an overall improvement in skin quality. It is often used as a foundation for “evening out” the skin before other treatments.
    + When are results visible?
Results appear relatively quickly — the skin becomes more even and fresher after the very first treatment, with further improvement over a course of sessions.
+ How many treatments are required?
A course of treatments is most often recommended in order to achieve a stable and long-lasting result.
    + Is the treatment painful?
The sensation is mild and well tolerated, often described as a brief warmth or a light tingling.
    + Is there any downtime?
Minimal — mild redness may occur, but it subsides quickly.
+ Why is the Nordlys platform a benchmark in modern laser centres?
Because it allows precise, safe and versatile action on a variety of skin concerns — the foundation of a high-quality, personalised approach.
