Examination overview
The skin is often the first to show that something is out of balance — through redness, a rash, changes in pigmentation, or simply the feeling that things are not quite as they were. A dermatological examination is more than a routine skin check; it is the moment when you receive a clear answer about what is happening and how to address it.
It is a thorough medical examination through which we assess the condition of the skin, establish a diagnosis and define a concrete treatment plan or the next steps.
It is worth remembering that the skin is our largest organ and often reflects our overall state of health — which is precisely why a timely examination means more than aesthetic improvement; it is genuine care for your wellbeing.
If you have noticed changes that simply will not go away, or you would like the reassurance that everything is in order, an examination is the first and most important step.
How is the examination performed?
The examination is carried out by a consultant dermatologist through a detailed clinical assessment of the skin, mucous membranes, scalp and nails.
The examination includes:
- analysis of the skin and any visible changes
- assessment of moles and pigmentation
- examination of the scalp and hair where required
Where appropriate, additional diagnostic methods are used:
- dermoscopy
- microbiological analyses
- biopsy
The aim is to establish an accurate diagnosis and to define the next steps straight away — with no ambiguity.
Who is the examination for?
The examination is recommended for those who:
- have noticed skin changes
- experience itching, redness or discomfort
- live with chronic skin conditions
- wish to monitor the health of their skin preventatively
It is also particularly important for those with sensitive skin or a family history of skin conditions.
If you are unsure whether you need an examination, that in itself is reason enough to book one.
Our approach
With us, an examination is never rushed or superficial — it is detailed and considered.
Every examination is carried out by a consultant dermatologist with extensive clinical experience, allowing the time required to understand the condition of your skin in full.
We look beyond what is visible on the surface and seek to understand the underlying cause. This is precisely why our examinations so often bring clarity where there had once been uncertainty.
We talk patients through the findings, the treatment and every subsequent step — because we believe that genuine reassurance comes from understanding.
For most patients, a first visit with us means the same thing — finally receiving a clear answer.
Preparing for the examination
No special preparation is required, although we recommend that you:
- arrive without make-up (for examinations of the face)
- do not wear nail varnish (if the nails are to be examined)
- bring any existing medical records with you
Recovery and precautions
There is no recovery period after the examination — it is an entirely non-invasive procedure.
Should additional diagnostic methods be required, your dermatologist will provide tailored guidance.
When are results visible?
The results of the examination are available immediately.
Each patient receives:
- a diagnosis or clear direction
- a recommended course of treatment
- a plan for the next steps
It is precisely that clarity that so often matters most to our patients.
Treatment combinations
Following the examination, an individual plan is drawn up which may include targeted therapies and the advanced technologies available at our laser centre:
- Candela Nordlys — for pigmentation, redness and vascular changes
- CO2 Smaxel — for skin regeneration and scarring
- Morpheus8 — for acne and improving overall skin quality
- Alma Soprano Titanium — for ingrown hairs and irritation
- Icoone Laser Med — for regeneration and microcirculation
In addition:
- individually prescribed treatment
- medical dermocosmetics
- a tailored plan of follow-up appointments
Every recommendation is based on the genuine needs of your skin — never generic.
