BOTOX therapy for excessive sweating

Treatment overview

Excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) isn’t just an aesthetic issue — for many patients it’s an everyday source of discomfort that quietly but powerfully creeps into all aspects of life.

These are situations others may not even notice — but the person living with them feels acutely:
constantly checking their clothing, avoiding certain colours, unease when shaking hands, the running thought “will it show?”.

Over time, it’s no longer just a physical problem — it becomes a psychological one too.
It affects self-confidence, spontaneity and a sense of security in everyday situations as well as important life moments.

Botox therapy works exactly where the problem starts — on the nerve impulses that activate the sweat glands. By temporarily blocking them, sweating in the treated area is significantly reduced or stopped altogether.

What makes this method especially valuable isn’t just its effectiveness — it’s the change it brings to the patient’s daily life.
The moment you stop thinking about sweating, space opens up for what really matters.

Botox has been used in medicine for many years to treat hyperhidrosis and is considered the gold standard when other methods don’t deliver. Effectiveness often reaches 80–90%, which translates to a real, tangible change for patients.

If you’ve ever found yourself planning your day around how much you’ll sweat — this is a treatment that can change that.

How the treatment is performed

The treatment is carried out by injecting Botox into the surface layer of the skin in the area of excessive sweating.

Most common areas:

  • underarms
  • palms
  • soles of the feet

During the procedure:

  • the area of excessive sweating is mapped out
  • small amounts of product are injected at multiple points
  • the treatment is quick and controlled

A topical anaesthetic cream may be used where needed, especially in more sensitive areas such as the palms and soles.

Who the treatment is for

The treatment is ideal for people who:

  • have excessive sweating that interferes with daily life
  • feel uneasy in social or professional settings
  • don’t respond to antiperspirants or other methods
  • want a long-lasting, effective solution

If sweating is affecting your self-confidence — that alone is reason enough to address it.

Our approach

Hyperhidrosis is often an underestimated problem — but for the person living with it, it’s very real.

At our clinic we approach this treatment with understanding and discretion. We don’t see it as just an aesthetic intervention, but as a way of giving the patient back a sense of control and confidence.

The treatment is performed by dermatology specialists who precisely determine the area and dose so that the result is even and natural.

We take the time to explain every step — because we want you to come into the treatment without any uncertainty.

Patients often come back to us with one simple sentence:
“I don’t even think about it any more.”

Preparing for the treatment

Before the treatment, we recommend:

  • arriving with clean, dry skin
  • avoiding shaving (for the underarms) for 24 hours beforehand
  • not using strong antiperspirants immediately before the treatment

Recovery and precautions

Recovery is minimal.

After the treatment:

  • mild redness or sensitivity may occur
  • everyday activities can resume immediately

Recommendations:

  • avoid intense physical activity on the same day
  • avoid touching the treated area for a few hours

When results become visible

Results develop gradually.

  • the first effects are visible after a few days
  • the full effect within 1–2 weeks

Outcome:

  • significantly reduced sweating
  • a sense of dryness and security
  • freedom in everyday and social situations

The effect typically lasts 4–6 months, and longer for some patients.

Treatment combinations

The treatment can be combined with other approaches depending on the patient’s needs:

  • Icoone Laser Med — to improve microcirculation and skin quality
  • Candela Nordlys — for treating redness or skin irritation
  • Morpheus8 — to improve skin quality

Additionally:

  • dermatological consultation
  • an individual treatment and maintenance plan

    FAQ

    Frequently asked questions

Here you’ll find answers to the questions our clients most often ask about our services and treatments.

+ How does Botox actually work on excessive sweating?
Botox temporarily blocks the nerve impulses that activate the sweat glands. Their activity is then controlled in a very precise, localised way, without affecting the rest of the body. That targeted effectiveness is exactly what makes this therapy one of the safest and most reliable solutions for hyperhidrosis.
+ When can I expect the first results?
The first effects appear within a few days, while the full result develops over 10 to 14 days. By that point patients already notice a significant difference in everyday situations, especially in social and professional settings.
+ How long does the effect last?
The effect lasts between 6 and 12 months. With regular, properly planned treatments it is possible to keep the condition under control over the long term, often with the duration of the effect gradually extending.
    + Is the treatment safe?
Yes — it is a medically established therapy that has been in use for many years. Safety also depends on correct indication and skilled application, which is the foundation of our approach.
    + Is the treatment painful?
Discomfort is minimal and short-lived. Local anaesthesia can be used where needed to make the treatment as comfortable as possible.
+ Will sweating appear on other parts of the body?
No — the action is local and does not cause compensatory sweating, which is a common concern for patients.
+ How does this treatment affect quality of life?
Very significantly. Patients often describe a sense of freedom and self-confidence that lets them function more easily in everyday situations — which is often just as important as the physical result itself.
