Fractional skin resurfacing

Treatment overview

Skin that has lost its smoothness, radiance, and evenness often requires more than a simple refresh — it needs a reset: a stimulus to once again function as healthy, high-quality skin.

Fractional skin resurfacing does precisely that. It is an advanced dermatological treatment that stimulates deep skin renewal, smooths the skin’s surface, and restores its structure and vitality.

At our laser centre, we use technologies such as CO2 Smaxel and Candela Nordlys Frax 1550, which allow precise, layered action — from surface renewal to deeper regeneration.

Notably, fractional technology treats the skin in micro-zones whilst leaving the surrounding tissue intact, which significantly accelerates the recovery process and allows for more natural regeneration.

How is the treatment performed?

The treatment is performed using a fractional laser that creates microscopic channels of controlled stimulation within the skin.

During the treatment:

  • damaged skin layers are removed
  • the production of new collagen is stimulated
  • the skin’s structure and texture are renewed

The depth and intensity of the treatment are tailored individually, depending on the condition of the skin and the therapeutic goal.

Who is the treatment for?

The treatment is ideal for individuals who:

  • have fine lines and skin irregularities
  • have scars (e.g. from acne)
  • have uneven skin tone and texture
  • wish to see a visible improvement in skin quality

It is suitable for anyone seeking deep skin regeneration and long-lasting results.

Our approach

With treatments such as these, the difference lies not only in the technology — but in the judgement of what the skin can tolerate and what it truly needs.

At our clinic, every treatment is planned by a specialist dermatologist who analyses the skin’s condition, its reactivity, and its regenerative potential. We do not work aggressively — we work with precision.

We combine technologies such as CO2 Smaxel and Candela Nordlys Frax 1550 where appropriate, but always with a clear plan and rationale.

The time we dedicate to each patient allows us to achieve what matters most — a result that looks natural and skin that looks and feels genuinely healthier over the long term.

Preparing for the treatment

Before the treatment, it is recommended to:

  • avoid sun exposure for at least 2 weeks beforehand
  • refrain from using harsh skincare products for several days prior
  • arrive with clean skin

An anaesthetic cream is most commonly applied to ensure greater comfort during the treatment.

Recovery and precautions

Recovery depends on the intensity of the treatment.

Possible reactions:

  • redness
  • a sensation of warmth
  • skin peeling

Recovery typically lasts several days, during which the skin is actively renewing itself.

Recommendations:

  • use a high-factor SPF
  • avoid sun and heat exposure
  • use the recommended regenerative skincare

When are results visible?

Initial results become visible following the recovery phase, whilst the full effect develops over several weeks.

Improvements include:

  • smoother skin
  • a reduction in irregularities
  • a more even skin tone

As collagen continues to remodel, results become increasingly pronounced.

Treatment combinations

For maximum and long-lasting results, fractional resurfacing is often combined with complementary technologies:

  • CO2 Smaxel — for intensive regeneration and treatment of deeper irregularities
  • Candela Nordlys Frax 1550 — for evening out skin tone and improving overall skin quality
  • Morpheus8 — for additional tightening and collagen stimulation
  • HIFU — for lifting and firming of deeper skin layers
  • Icoone Laser Med — for stimulating circulation and aiding regeneration

Additionally, where indicated:

  • dermal fillers to restore volume
  • botulinum toxin to soften expression lines
  • biostimulative treatments

Combinations are planned on an individual basis — with the aim of achieving a natural and well-balanced result.

Here you’ll find answers to the questions our clients most often ask about our services and treatments.

+ What does 'skin resurfacing' mean and how does it work?
Skin resurfacing involves the deep renewal of the skin through a fractional laser that stimulates the production of new collagen and restores the skin's structure.
+ What concerns does this treatment address?
Deeper wrinkles, scars, sun damage, and pronounced skin irregularities.
    + When are results visible?
Results develop gradually over several weeks, with continued improvement over time.
+ How many treatments are required?
Depending on the skin's condition, a course of multiple treatments is often recommended.
    + Is the treatment painful?
The treatment is performed with an anaesthetic cream to minimise discomfort.
+ How long is the recovery period?
Recovery may last several days, depending on the intensity of the treatment.
